Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces (227g) full-fat cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1/2 cup (113g, 1 stick) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 3-4 cups (360-480g) powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) pure vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon (a pinch) salt

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together with an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth, light, and fluffy.
  2. Add the vanilla extract and salt to the butter-cream cheese mixture. Mix until just combined.
  3. With the mixer on low speed, gradually add the sifted powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time.
  4. Increase the mixer speed to medium and beat until the frosting is smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust the amount of powdered sugar to reach your desired sweetness and consistency.
  5. For a firmer frosting, cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes before using (optional).
