Ingredients:
- 8 ounces (227g) full-fat cream cheese, softened to room temperature
- 1/2 cup (113g, 1 stick) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
- 3-4 cups (360-480g) powdered sugar, sifted
- 1 teaspoon (5ml) pure vanilla extract
- 1/8 teaspoon (a pinch) salt
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together with an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth, light, and fluffy.
- Add the vanilla extract and salt to the butter-cream cheese mixture. Mix until just combined.
- With the mixer on low speed, gradually add the sifted powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time.
- Increase the mixer speed to medium and beat until the frosting is smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust the amount of powdered sugar to reach your desired sweetness and consistency.
- For a firmer frosting, cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes before using (optional).
