Ingredients:
- 28 ounces (794g) crushed tomatoes (canned, good quality)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup (15g) fresh basil, chopped
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper (freshly ground)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (optional)
Instructions:
- (Optional: Flavor Boost) Heat olive oil in saucepan over medium heat.
- Sauté Garlic: Add minced garlic to the saucepan (or directly to the saucepan if skipping the oil) and cook for about 30 seconds, or until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Add Tomatoes: Pour in crushed tomatoes.
- Season Up: Stir in basil, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer & Reduce: Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low. Cook uncovered for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened slightly and the flavors have melded. Check seasoning and adjust salt and pepper to taste.
