Ingredients:
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup (60ml) cold water
- 1 cup (100g) almond flour
- 1/2 cup (60g) powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 large egg white
- 1 tablespoon (15g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 egg yolk mixed with 1 tablespoon (15ml) milk (for egg wash)
- Sliced almonds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add cold butter and mix until crumbly.
- Stir in the egg and cold water until a dough forms. Chill the dough for 30 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix almond flour, powdered sugar, almond extract, egg white, and softened butter until well combined.
- On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to a rectangle approximately 1/8 inch thick.
- Cut the dough into rectangles and place almond filling in the center of each.
- Fold the dough over the filling and seal the edges with a fork.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Place the filled pastries on a lined baking sheet, brush with the egg wash, and sprinkle sliced almonds on top.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow the treats to cool slightly before serving.
