Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) cold water
  • 1 cup (100g) almond flour
  • 1/2 cup (60g) powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 large egg white
  • 1 tablespoon (15g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 egg yolk mixed with 1 tablespoon (15ml) milk (for egg wash)
  • Sliced almonds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
  2. Add cold butter and mix until crumbly.
  3. Stir in the egg and cold water until a dough forms. Chill the dough for 30 minutes.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix almond flour, powdered sugar, almond extract, egg white, and softened butter until well combined.
  5. On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to a rectangle approximately 1/8 inch thick.
  6. Cut the dough into rectangles and place almond filling in the center of each.
  7. Fold the dough over the filling and seal the edges with a fork.
  8. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Place the filled pastries on a lined baking sheet, brush with the egg wash, and sprinkle sliced almonds on top.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Allow the treats to cool slightly before serving.
