Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450g) Italian sausage (sweet or spicy, your choice)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (15 ml)
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced (red, yellow, or green)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano (5 g)
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil (5 g)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley or basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or aluminum foil (optional).
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced onion, bell pepper, minced garlic, dried oregano, dried basil, olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  4. Place the Italian sausages on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them evenly.
  5. Arrange the onion and bell pepper mixture around the sausages on the baking sheet.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, turning sausages halfway through for even cooking.
  7. Check for doneness; sausages should reach an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C) and have a golden brown exterior.
  8. Optional: Broil for an additional 2-3 minutes for extra crispiness.
  9. Garnish with fresh parsley or basil before serving.
