- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp or 7g) active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup (120ml) whole milk, warmed
- 1/4 cup (60ml) unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup (50g) unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
- 1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar, packed (for filling)
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for filling)
- 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2-4 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)
Instructions:
- In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast; let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a separate large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add melted butter and eggs to the yeast mixture; combine.
- Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface; knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- In a small bowl, mix softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until well combined.
- Roll the dough into a large rectangle (about 1/4 inch thick).
- Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the dough.
- Roll the dough tightly from the long end; slice into 12 equal pieces.
- Place the slices cut side up on a lined baking sheet, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the buns for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- In a bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over warm buns before serving.
