Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup (100g) light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated white sugar
  • 1 large (50g) egg
  • 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups (190g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) sea salt
  • 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup (40g) dark chocolate chunks

Instructions:

  1. Brown the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until it foams and turns a mahogany-colored hue; remove immediately to prevent burning.
  2. Whisk the browned butter with both the light brown sugar and granulated white sugar until the mixture is smooth.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract, stirring vigorously until the batter looks glossy and slightly pale.
  4. Gently fold in the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and sea salt using a spatula until no white streaks remain.
  5. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and dark chocolate chunks.
  6. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a lined baking sheet.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 9–11 minutes, removing when the edges are golden brown but the centers still look slightly underbaked.
