Ingredients:

  • 8 oz (227 g) semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 4 large eggs, separated
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
  • ½ teaspoon (2.5 ml) peppermint extract (optional)
  • 12 edible googly eyes
  • 12 mini pretzels
  • 12 red candy-coated chocolates (for noses)
  • 12 fresh mint leaves (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Melt the chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl over simmering water until smooth.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk egg yolks and sugar until creamy, then mix in melted chocolate.
  3. In another bowl, whip the heavy cream to soft peaks.
  4. In a clean bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  5. Gently fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture, then fold in the egg whites until combined.
  6. Chill the mousse for at least 30 minutes until set.
  7. Spoon or pipe the chocolate mousse into dessert cups or small plates.
  8. Decorate each mousse with pretzel antlers, googly eyes, and a red chocolate nose.
  9. Garnish with fresh mint leaves for a pop of color.
