Ingredients:
- 1 cup (240ml) Mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) Dill pickle relish
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) Capers, drained and finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) Fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) Finely chopped fresh dill
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) Finely chopped fresh parsley
- 1 teaspoon (5ml) Dijon mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon (1.25ml) Black pepper, freshly ground
- Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, dill pickle relish, capers, lemon juice, dill, parsley, Dijon mustard, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).
- Whisk or stir the ingredients together until thoroughly combined. Ensure no lumps of mayonnaise remain.
- Taste the tartar sauce and adjust the seasoning to your liking. Add more lemon juice for extra tang, more dill for a fresher flavour, or more pepper for a bolder taste.
- For best results, cover the tartar sauce and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Serve the tartar sauce immediately or store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
