Ingredients:

  • 1.5 lbs (700g) boneless, skinless chicken tenders
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) olive oil (optional)
  • 1 packet (approx. 1 oz/28g) Italian dressing mix
  • 1 tsp (5ml) garlic powder
  • 1 tsp (5ml) onion powder
  • ½ tsp (2.5ml) smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp (2.5ml) black pepper
  • ½ tsp (2.5ml) salt (or to taste)
  • ½ cup (120ml) chicken broth (low sodium preferred)
  • 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
  • Optional: fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Pat the chicken tenders dry with paper towels.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the Italian dressing mix, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken tenders and toss to coat evenly.
  3. (Optional Browning): For added flavour, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken tenders on all sides until lightly browned. This step adds depth, but is completely optional.
  4. Place the seasoned chicken tenders in the crockpot in a single layer.
  5. Pour the chicken broth and Worcestershire sauce over the chicken.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, or until the chicken is cooked through and easily shreds with a fork. Crockpot chicken tenders.
  7. Use two forks to shred the chicken directly in the crockpot. This creates a fantastic pulled chicken texture.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley (if using) and serve hot.
