  • 2 large eggs, separated
  • 1 3/4 cups whole milk (420 ml)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted (115 g)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream
  • Assorted seasonal berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • Maple syrup or chocolate sauce (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the waffle iron according to the manufacturers instructions.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks with milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. In another bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  6. Carefully fold the beaten egg whites into the batter until no white streaks remain.
  7. Lightly grease the waffle iron with butter or non-stick spray.
  8. Pour the appropriate amount of batter into the preheated waffle iron and close the lid.
  9. Cook until golden brown (about 5-7 minutes, depending on your waffle iron).
  10. Remove and serve immediately with whipped cream and berries.
