- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Whipped cream
- Assorted seasonal berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
- Maple syrup or chocolate sauce (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat the waffle iron according to the manufacturers instructions.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks with milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- In another bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
- Carefully fold the beaten egg whites into the batter until no white streaks remain.
- Lightly grease the waffle iron with butter or non-stick spray.
- Pour the appropriate amount of batter into the preheated waffle iron and close the lid.
- Cook until golden brown (about 5-7 minutes, depending on your waffle iron).
- Remove and serve immediately with whipped cream and berries.
