Ingredients:

  • 1 (15.25 ounce / 432g) package chocolate sandwich cookies (like Oreo), finely crushed (reserve some whole cookies for garnish, if desired)
  • 1 (3.4 ounce / 96g) package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 3 cups (720ml) cold milk (whole or 2% recommended for richness)
  • 8 ounces (227g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 8 ounces (227g) whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed
  • Gummy worms, for garnish
  • Optional: Chocolate rocks, flower candies, plastic shovel

Instructions:

  1. Crush the chocolate sandwich cookies into fine crumbs. Use a food processor for speed or a resealable bag and rolling pin for a more tactile approach. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix and cold milk until smooth. Let it sit for 5 minutes to thicken slightly.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and sugar together until light and fluffy. Ensure no lumps remain.
  4. Gently fold the cream cheese mixture into the pudding mixture until well combined. Then, gently fold in the whipped topping until everything is homogenous.
  5. In a large serving bowl or individual clear cups, layer the crushed cookies and pudding mixture. Start with a layer of crushed cookies, followed by a layer of pudding, and repeat.
  6. Cover the dessert and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably longer, to allow the flavors to meld and the pudding to set completely.
  7. Before serving, garnish the top with gummy worms, chocolate rocks, flower candies, and/or a plastic shovel. Get creative!
