Ingredients:

  • 1 (15-ounce/425g) package chocolate sandwich cookies (like Oreos), crushed into fine crumbs
  • 1/4 cup (30g) unsalted butter, melted (optional)
  • 2 (3.4-ounce/96g each) packages instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 4 cups (946ml) cold milk
  • 8 ounces (227g) cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup (227g) heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 1 package (about 8 ounces/227g) gummy worms
  • Optional: Gummy bears, chocolate rocks, artificial flowers, edible sprinkles for decoration

Instructions:

  1. Pulse cookies in a food processor (or crush in a zip-top bag) until finely ground. Mix with melted butter (if using) to create a slightly damp crumb mixture.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the instant pudding mix and milk until well combined. Set aside to thicken for 5 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy. Gradually add the sugar and continue beating until combined.
  4. In another bowl, whip the heavy cream with the electric mixer until stiff peaks form.
  5. Gently fold the cream cheese mixture into the pudding mixture until well combined. Then, gently fold in the whipped cream until everything is smooth and light.
  6. In your chosen serving dish, layer the crushed cookie dirt, pudding mixture, and gummy worms. Start and end with a layer of cookie crumbs to resemble soil.
  7. Arrange the gummy worms to look like they're crawling out of the dirt. Add any other desired decorations, such as gummy bears, chocolate rocks, or artificial flowers.
  8. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld together.
