Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (80% lean)
  • 1 cup (100 g) breadcrumbs (preferably homemade)
  • 1/2 cup (75 g) finely chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp (5 g) salt
  • 1/2 tsp (2 g) black pepper
  • 1 tsp (5 g) dried oregano
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) chopped fresh parsley (or 1 tbsp dried)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) vegetable oil (or enough for pan frying)

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, oregano, and parsley.
  2. Use your hands or a spatula to blend all ingredients until well combined.
  3. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 30 minutes to firm up the mixture.
  4. After chilling, divide the mixture into equal portions and shape into patties (about 2-3 inches wide).
  5. In a frying pan, add vegetable oil over medium heat until it shimmers.
  6. Carefully place the patties in the hot oil and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Remove rissoles and place on paper towels to absorb excess oil before serving.
