Ingredients:
- 1.5 lbs (680g) frozen French fries
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 4 tablespoons (57g) unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (24g)
- 1 ½ cups (355ml) whole milk
- ½ cup (50g) grated Parmesan cheese, plus extra for topping
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon onion powder
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
- 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh chives, chopped
Instructions:
- Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) or preheat oven according to fries package directions.
- Fry or bake fries until golden brown and crispy.
- Season with salt and pepper immediately after removing from oil or oven.
- Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Whisk in flour until a smooth paste forms.
- Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly, until thickened (3-5 mins).
- Stir in Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Arrange cooked fries on a platter.
- Drizzle with garlic Parmesan sauce.
- Top with crumbled bacon, parsley, and chives. Sprinkle with extra Parmesan cheese, if desired.
- Serve immediately.
