Ingredients:
- 1 pound (450 g) ground beef (80% lean)
- 1 cup (150 g) breadcrumbs (preferably plain)
- 1/2 cup (75 g) onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) milk
- 2 tablespoons (30 g) ketchup
- 1 tablespoon (15 g) Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon (5 g) salt
- 1/2 teaspoon (2 g) black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon (1 g) dried Italian herbs
- 1/4 cup (60 g) ketchup for glaze
- 1 tablespoon (15 g) brown sugar for glaze
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) apple cider vinegar for glaze
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven: Set oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, and milk. Add ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and Italian herbs. Mix until well combined.
- Shape the Meatloaf: Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish or loaf pan, shaping it into a loaf.
- Make the Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together ketchup, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar. Spread half of the glaze over the top of the meatloaf.
- Bake the Meatloaf: Place in the oven and bake for 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
- Add the Remaining Glaze: In the last 10 minutes of baking, brush with the remaining glaze.
- Rest and Serve: Remove from oven, let rest for 10-15 minutes, slice, and serve.
