Ingredients:
- 1 store-bought angel food cake (about 10-12 oz; 280-340 g)
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream (480 ml)
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (30 g)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (5 ml)
- 2 cups mixed fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries) (about 300 g)
- 1 medium banana, sliced (120 g)
- 1/2 cup sliced peaches or nectarines (75 g)
- Fresh mint leaves (optional)
Instructions:
- Gather all ingredients and equipment for easy access.
- In a mixing bowl, combine heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Using an electric mixer, whip on medium-high speed until soft peaks form.
- Wash and slice the berries, banana, and peaches as necessary. Set aside.
- Cut the angel food cake into cubes. In a trifle dish, layer one-third of the cake cubes at the bottom.
- Add half of the whipped cream on top of the cake layer.
- Add half of the mixed fruit on top of the whipped cream.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients (cake, whipped cream, fruit).
- Cover the trifle with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
- Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired and serve chilled.
