Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (200g) packed dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) heavy cream
  • 1 tsp (5ml) pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp (1.5g) fine sea salt

Instructions:

  1. Combine the butter and brown sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until the butter is completely melted and the sugar has integrated into a bubbling, uniform paste.
  2. Slowly pour in the heavy cream while whisking vigorously. Allow the mixture to come to a gentle boil.
  3. Lower the heat and simmer for 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and looks glossy.
  4. Remove the pan from the heat immediately. Stir in the vanilla extract and sea salt.
