Ingredients:
- 12 fresh figs (approx. 1 lb / 450g), halved lengthwise
- 3 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp flaky sea salt
- 1/4 cup walnuts, roughly chopped
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Trim the stems from the figs and slice each fruit in half lengthwise.
- Arrange the figs on the sheet, cut side up, leaving a half inch of space between each piece. Note: This ensures the heat circulates and they roast instead of steam.
- Combine melted butter, honey, cinnamon, and sea salt in a small bowl. Stir vigorously until smooth.
- Drizzle the glaze over the cut side of each fig. Use a spoon to make sure the honey fills the center cavity.
- Place the sheet on the center rack and roast for 18–22 minutes. Cook until the figs look slumped and jammy and the glaze edges bubble into a deep mahogany brown.
- Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle with chopped walnuts.
- Let them rest for 5 minutes. Note: The glaze thickens as it cools slightly, making it more pourable and rich.
