Ingredients:
- 12 ounces (340 grams) Fresh or Frozen Cranberries, rinsed
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) Water
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) Fresh Orange Juice
- 1 tablespoon Orange Zest
- 1/4 to 1/3 cup Honey (adjust to taste)
- 1 medium Cinnamon Stick (optional)
Instructions:
- Rinse the cranberries thoroughly. Zest and juice the orange; set aside.
- In the saucepan, combine the water, orange juice, and honey. Heat gently over medium heat until the honey is fully dissolved, stirring occasionally.
- Add the rinsed cranberries, the orange zest, and the cinnamon stick (if using) to the liquid mixture.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Continue simmering, stirring occasionally, for about 15 to 20 minutes, until the cranberries soften and burst.
- Once most berries have burst and the mixture has thickened slightly, remove from the heat. If using a cinnamon stick, remove and discard it.
- Pour the sauce into a clean jar or serving dish. Note that it will appear thin.
- Cool completely on the counter, then cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the sauce to thicken and the flavours to integrate.
