Ingredients:

  • 12 ounces (340 grams) Fresh or Frozen Cranberries, rinsed
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) Water
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) Fresh Orange Juice
  • 1 tablespoon Orange Zest
  • 1/4 to 1/3 cup Honey (adjust to taste)
  • 1 medium Cinnamon Stick (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the cranberries thoroughly. Zest and juice the orange; set aside.
  2. In the saucepan, combine the water, orange juice, and honey. Heat gently over medium heat until the honey is fully dissolved, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add the rinsed cranberries, the orange zest, and the cinnamon stick (if using) to the liquid mixture.
  4. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Continue simmering, stirring occasionally, for about 15 to 20 minutes, until the cranberries soften and burst.
  5. Once most berries have burst and the mixture has thickened slightly, remove from the heat. If using a cinnamon stick, remove and discard it.
  6. Pour the sauce into a clean jar or serving dish. Note that it will appear thin.
  7. Cool completely on the counter, then cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the sauce to thicken and the flavours to integrate.
