Ingredients:
- 1 cup (120g) Bisquick baking mix
- ½ cup (120ml) milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) olive oil
- ½ cup (approximately 50g) diced onion
- 1 cup (approximately 100g) cooked and crumbled bacon or cooked sausage
- 1 cup (approximately 115g) shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup (240ml) milk
- 2 large eggs
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- Pinch of nutmeg
- Chopped fresh chives or parsley for garnish
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together Bisquick, milk, and 2 eggs until smooth.
- If using raw vegetables (like onions), sauté them in olive oil until softened. If using bacon or sausage, cook and crumble it.
- Pour the Bisquick mixture into the pie plate. Sprinkle the cooked vegetables and meat (if using) evenly over the base. Top with the shredded cheese.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, 2 eggs, salt, pepper, and nutmeg (if using).
- Gently pour the custard mixture over the fillings in the pie plate.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean and the quiche is golden brown and set.
- Let cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
- Sprinkle with fresh chives or parsley, if desired.
