Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (120g) Bisquick baking mix
  • ½ cup (120ml) milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) olive oil
  • ½ cup (approximately 50g) diced onion
  • 1 cup (approximately 100g) cooked and crumbled bacon or cooked sausage
  • 1 cup (approximately 115g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup (240ml) milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • Chopped fresh chives or parsley for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together Bisquick, milk, and 2 eggs until smooth.
  3. If using raw vegetables (like onions), sauté them in olive oil until softened. If using bacon or sausage, cook and crumble it.
  4. Pour the Bisquick mixture into the pie plate. Sprinkle the cooked vegetables and meat (if using) evenly over the base. Top with the shredded cheese.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, 2 eggs, salt, pepper, and nutmeg (if using).
  6. Gently pour the custard mixture over the fillings in the pie plate.
  7. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean and the quiche is golden brown and set.
  8. Let cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
  9. Sprinkle with fresh chives or parsley, if desired.
