Ingredients:
- 1 cup (240ml) mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup (60ml) finely chopped dill pickles
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) finely chopped red onion
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) chopped fresh parsley
- 1 teaspoon (5ml) Dijon mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon (1.25ml) freshly ground black pepper
- Pinch of salt (to taste)
Instructions:
- Finely chop the dill pickles, red onion (or shallot), and fresh parsley.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, lemon juice, and Dijon mustard. Whisk until smooth.
- Add the chopped dill pickles, red onion (or shallot), parsley, black pepper, and salt to the mayonnaise mixture.
- Stir until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Taste the tartar sauce and adjust seasoning as needed. Add more lemon juice for tanginess, or more salt and pepper to taste.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld (optional, but recommended).
- Serve chilled or at room temperature.
