Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (240ml) mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) finely chopped dill pickles
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) finely chopped red onion
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.25ml) freshly ground black pepper
  • Pinch of salt (to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Finely chop the dill pickles, red onion (or shallot), and fresh parsley.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, lemon juice, and Dijon mustard. Whisk until smooth.
  3. Add the chopped dill pickles, red onion (or shallot), parsley, black pepper, and salt to the mayonnaise mixture.
  4. Stir until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  5. Taste the tartar sauce and adjust seasoning as needed. Add more lemon juice for tanginess, or more salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld (optional, but recommended).
  7. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
