Instructions:

  1. Gently rinse the grapes under cool water. Ensure they are completely dry; moisture prevents the Kool-Aid from sticking well. Remove any stems or damaged fruit.
  2. In a medium non-reactive mixing bowl, combine the Kool-Aid powder and the granulated sugar. Whisk briefly to ensure they are well distributed.
  3. Slowly pour the cold water into the sugar/Kool-Aid mix while whisking continuously until both the sugar and powder are fully dissolved, aiming for a clear, intensely coloured liquid.
  4. Place the dried grapes into a large, shallow container. Pour the entire Kool-Aid liquid mixture evenly over the grapes, ensuring they are completely submerged.
  5. Cover the container tightly and transfer it to the refrigerator. Allow the grapes to soak for a minimum of 4 hours, ideally overnight (12–16 hours) for the best flavour.
  6. Once fully soaked, use a slotted spoon or fine-mesh strainer to carefully remove the grapes from the liquid. Do not rinse them.
  7. Gently spread the drained grapes onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or paper towels. Let them sit, uncovered, in the refrigerator for 1–2 hours to allow the excess surface liquid to evaporate.
  8. Serve the chilled Kool-Aid Grapes immediately.
