Instructions:
- Gently rinse the grapes under cool water. Ensure they are completely dry; moisture prevents the Kool-Aid from sticking well. Remove any stems or damaged fruit.
- In a medium non-reactive mixing bowl, combine the Kool-Aid powder and the granulated sugar. Whisk briefly to ensure they are well distributed.
- Slowly pour the cold water into the sugar/Kool-Aid mix while whisking continuously until both the sugar and powder are fully dissolved, aiming for a clear, intensely coloured liquid.
- Place the dried grapes into a large, shallow container. Pour the entire Kool-Aid liquid mixture evenly over the grapes, ensuring they are completely submerged.
- Cover the container tightly and transfer it to the refrigerator. Allow the grapes to soak for a minimum of 4 hours, ideally overnight (12–16 hours) for the best flavour.
- Once fully soaked, use a slotted spoon or fine-mesh strainer to carefully remove the grapes from the liquid. Do not rinse them.
- Gently spread the drained grapes onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or paper towels. Let them sit, uncovered, in the refrigerator for 1–2 hours to allow the excess surface liquid to evaporate.
- Serve the chilled Kool-Aid Grapes immediately.
