Ingredients:
- 4 medium firm-ripe pears (such as Bosc or Anjou)
- 2 tbsp (28g) unsalted butter, melted
- ½ cup (120ml) pure maple syrup
- 1 tsp (2g) ground cinnamon
- ½ tsp (2.5ml) vanilla extract
- ⅛ tsp (0.75g) sea salt
- ¼ cup (30g) chopped pecans or walnuts
Instructions:
- Get your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Slice each pear in half lengthwise.
- Using a melon baller or a small spoon, scoop out the core and seeds to create a small well in the center.
- Place the pears cut side up in a 9x9 inch baking dish and brush the flesh lightly with melted butter.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt until the cinnamon is fully incorporated.
- Spoon the mixture evenly into the center of each pear, allowing the excess to pool at the bottom of the dish.
- Slide the dish into the center rack of the oven.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until the edges turn a deep mahogany gold and the scent of cinnamon fills the room.
- Sprinkle the chopped pecans or walnuts over the top during the last 5 minutes of baking.
