Ingredients:

  • 4 medium firm-ripe pears (such as Bosc or Anjou)
  • 2 tbsp (28g) unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup (120ml) pure maple syrup
  • 1 tsp (2g) ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp (2.5ml) vanilla extract
  • ⅛ tsp (0.75g) sea salt
  • ¼ cup (30g) chopped pecans or walnuts

Instructions:

  1. Get your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Slice each pear in half lengthwise.
  3. Using a melon baller or a small spoon, scoop out the core and seeds to create a small well in the center.
  4. Place the pears cut side up in a 9x9 inch baking dish and brush the flesh lightly with melted butter.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt until the cinnamon is fully incorporated.
  6. Spoon the mixture evenly into the center of each pear, allowing the excess to pool at the bottom of the dish.
  7. Slide the dish into the center rack of the oven.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the edges turn a deep mahogany gold and the scent of cinnamon fills the room.
  9. Sprinkle the chopped pecans or walnuts over the top during the last 5 minutes of baking.
