Ingredients:

  • 1 (3.4 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 3 cups cold milk, preferably whole milk
  • 1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 (12 ounce) box vanilla wafers
  • 3-4 ripe bananas, sliced
  • Optional: Extra vanilla wafers, whipped cream, and banana slices for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix and cold milk in a large bowl until smooth. Let stand for 2 minutes to thicken slightly.
  2. Gently fold in the thawed whipped topping until fully incorporated and the mixture is light and airy.
  3. Arrange a layer of vanilla wafers on the bottom of the baking dish or trifle bowl.
  4. Top the wafers with a layer of sliced bananas, followed by a layer of the pudding mixture.
  5. Repeat layers of vanilla wafers, bananas, and pudding, ending with a layer of pudding on top.
  6. Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the wafers to soften slightly.
  7. Before serving, garnish with extra vanilla wafers, whipped cream, and/or banana slices, if desired.
