Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup (170g) unsalted butter
- 1 cup (200g) packed light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp (6g) fresh orange zest
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp (3g) salt
- 1/2 tsp (2g) baking powder
- 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp (30ml) fresh orange juice
- 1/2 tsp (1g) orange zest
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang.
- Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat, whisking constantly until it foams and turns a deep amber color with a nutty aroma.
- Remove butter from heat and whisk in the brown sugar until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
- Add eggs and vanilla extract, beating vigorously until the batter is emulsified and slightly lightened in color.
- Stir in the orange zest, then gently fold in the flour, salt, and baking powder using a spatula until no streaks of flour remain.
- Spread batter evenly into the prepared pan and bake for 25–30 minutes, until edges are light golden and the center is slightly soft.
- Cool brownies completely in the pan. Whisk together powdered sugar, orange juice, and zest, then drizzle over the top.
