Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup Old-fashioned Rolled Oats
  • 3/4 cup Milk (Dairy or Non-Dairy)
  • 1 medium Frozen Banana
  • 1/4 cup Plain Greek Yogurt
  • 1 Tbsp Pure Maple Syrup (or honey)
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup Extra Liquid (Milk/Water, for adjusting thickness)
  • Pinch of Salt (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Phase 1 - Combine Oats and Liquid: In an airtight container or jar, combine the 1/2 cup (45g) of rolled oats and 3/4 cup (180ml) of milk. Stir thoroughly to ensure all oats are submerged.
  2. Phase 1 - Soak: Cover the container and refrigerate for a minimum of 2 hours, but preferably overnight (8 hours). This softens the starch and makes the oats easily digestible and smooth.
  3. Phase 2 - Load the Blender: Once the oats are softened, transfer the entire oat-milk mixture into the blender carafe.
  4. Phase 2 - Add Remaining Ingredients: Add the frozen banana, Greek yogurt, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and the pinch of salt.
  5. Phase 2 - Initial Blend: Start the blender on a low speed for 15 seconds to break down the frozen ingredients.
  6. Phase 2 - Full Blend: Increase the speed to high and blend for 45–60 seconds, or until the mixture is completely smooth and uniform.
  7. Phase 2 - Check Consistency: If the smoothie is too thick, add the remaining 1/4 cup (60ml) of extra liquid (milk or water) one tablespoon at a time until the desired consistency is reached.
  8. Phase 2 - Serve Immediately: Pour into a glass, garnish if desired, and enjoy this ultimate breakfast.
