Ingredients:
- 1 cup steel cut oats
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups 2% milk
- 0.5 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
Instructions:
- Generously grease the ceramic insert of your slow cooker with butter or non-stick spray to prevent sticking and crusting.
- Combine the steel cut oats, water, milk, salt, vanilla, diced apples, cinnamon, and maple syrup in the slow cooker and stir well.
- Secure the lid and set the slow cooker to LOW for 7 to 8 hours. Do not use the HIGH setting to avoid scorching.
- In the morning, stir the oats for 60 seconds to incorporate the natural starches and create a creamy consistency.
- Adjust the thickness by adding an extra splash of warm milk or water if desired before serving.
