Ingredients:
- ¾ cup (180 ml) White Vinegar
- ½ cup (100g) Granulated Sugar
- ¼ cup (60 ml) Water
- 3 tablespoons Ketchup
- 2 tablespoons Pineapple Juice
- 2 tablespoons Light Soy Sauce
- 2 teaspoons Cornstarch (mixed with 2 tablespoons cold water)
- 1 tablespoon White Wine Vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Onion Powder
- Pinch of Red Food Coloring (optional)
Instructions:
- In a saucepan, combine the vinegar, sugar, water, ketchup, pineapple juice, and soy sauce.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally.
- Slowly whisk in the cornstarch slurry, ensuring no lumps form. Continue simmering and stirring until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency (about 2-3 minutes).
- Stir in the white wine vinegar, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- If desired, add a pinch of red food coloring to achieve a similar color to the original Panda Express Sweet and Sour Sauce.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly before serving.
