Ingredients:

  • ¾ cup (180 ml) White Vinegar
  • ½ cup (100g) Granulated Sugar
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) Water
  • 3 tablespoons Ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Pineapple Juice
  • 2 tablespoons Light Soy Sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Cornstarch (mixed with 2 tablespoons cold water)
  • 1 tablespoon White Wine Vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • Pinch of Red Food Coloring (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a saucepan, combine the vinegar, sugar, water, ketchup, pineapple juice, and soy sauce.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally.
  3. Slowly whisk in the cornstarch slurry, ensuring no lumps form. Continue simmering and stirring until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency (about 2-3 minutes).
  4. Stir in the white wine vinegar, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  5. If desired, add a pinch of red food coloring to achieve a similar color to the original Panda Express Sweet and Sour Sauce.
  6. Reduce heat to low and simmer for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly before serving.
