Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup warm whole milk
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream

Instructions:

  1. Combine warm milk and a pinch of the sugar in a mixer bowl. Sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add the remaining sugar, melted butter, and egg. Gradually mix in the flour and salt.
  3. Using a dough hook, knead on medium-low for 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth and tacky.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm environment for 60 minutes or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and roll it into a 12x18 inch rectangle on a floured surface.
