Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup warm whole milk
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
- 1 large egg
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
Instructions:
- Combine warm milk and a pinch of the sugar in a mixer bowl. Sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Add the remaining sugar, melted butter, and egg. Gradually mix in the flour and salt.
- Using a dough hook, knead on medium-low for 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth and tacky.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm environment for 60 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and roll it into a 12x18 inch rectangle on a floured surface.
