Ingredients:

  • 2 cans (15 oz / 425g each) sliced peaches in heavy syrup, undrained
  • 1 tbsp (12g) ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp (1.5g) salt
  • 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (60g) granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp (10g) baking powder
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) whole milk

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Pour the undrained canned peaches and their syrup directly into a 9x9 inch baking dish.
  3. Stir in the cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt. Ensure the peaches are evenly coated in the spice mixture and spread into a flat, even layer.
  4. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and baking powder until no clumps remain.
  5. Pour in the melted butter and whole milk, stirring with a spatula until just combined.
  6. Spoon the batter over the peaches, spreading it to the edges with a spatula.
  7. Bake for 35–40 minutes until the topping is mahogany-colored gold and the peach syrup is bubbling around the edges.
