Ingredients:
- 2 oz (60 ml) Japanese whiskey (e.g., Yamazaki)
- 1/2 oz (15 ml) umeshu (Japanese plum wine)
- 2 dashes of aromatic bitters (e.g., Angostura)
- Ice cubes
- 1 twist of orange peel
- Optional: A single ume (plum) for garnish
Instructions:
- Fill the Old Fashioned glass with ice water to chill.
- In a mixing glass, combine the Japanese whiskey, umeshu, and aromatic bitters.
- Fill the mixing glass with ice cubes.
- Use a bar spoon to stir the mixture gently for about 30 seconds until well chilled.
- Discard the ice water from the Old Fashioned glass.
- Strain the cocktail into the chilled glass.
- Twist the orange peel over the drink to release oils and drop it in. Optionally, add a ume for visual appeal.
