Ingredients:

  • 1 (9-inch) pie shell
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup full-fat sour cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated white sugar
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups peeled, cored, and sliced pears
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (218°C).
  2. Place the pie shell into the pie plate and press firmly against the sides.
  3. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of flour evenly across the bottom of the crust to create a moisture barrier.
  4. In a large bowl, combine sour cream, white sugar, 1/3 cup flour, almond extract, and vanilla extract.
  5. Beat the mixture with a hand mixer on medium speed until completely smooth.
  6. Pour the sour cream mixture into the prepared pie shell and smooth the top with a spatula.
  7. Arrange the pear slices in a decorative concentric circle or rustic heap on top of the sour cream layer.
  8. In a small bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt; drizzle evenly over the pears.
  9. Place the pie on a baking sheet and bake at 425°F (218°C) for 15 minutes to set the crust.
  10. Reduce oven temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for another 45–50 minutes until set.
