Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces (225g) full-fat cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 3-4 cups (360-480g) powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) pure vanilla extract
  • 2-4 tablespoons (30-60ml) milk
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened cream cheese and butter until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in the vanilla extract.
  3. Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing on low speed until incorporated.
  4. Gradually add the milk, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the icing reaches a smooth, spreadable consistency. Don't overmix!
  5. Add a pinch of salt to balance the sweetness. Taste and adjust sweetness or consistency as needed.
  6. Immediately spread the icing generously over warm cinnamon buns.
  7. Watch it melt slightly and dive in!
