Ingredients:

  • 2 slices sourdough bread (about ½ inch thick)
  • 2 tablespoons sweet pickle
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 3 oz mature cheddar cheese, sliced
  • ¼ medium apple, thinly sliced
  • A small handful of watercress
  • Optional: 1 tbsp butter, softened

Instructions:

  1. Optionally toast the sourdough slices. If using, spread softened butter on one side of each slice.
  2. Spread Dijon mustard evenly on one slice of bread.
  3. Spread sweet pickle generously over the other slice of bread.
  4. Layer the cheddar cheese slices on top of the mustard-covered slice.
  5. Arrange the apple slices neatly on top of the cheese.
  6. Add a layer of watercress on top of the apple slices.
  7. Carefully place the pickle-covered slice of bread on top of the watercress, pickle-side down.
  8. Using a sharp knife, slice the sandwich in half. Serve immediately.
