Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) ground cardamom
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) ground black pepper
- Optional: 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) ground star anise
- Optional: 1/4 teaspoon (1.25 ml) chili flakes
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, combine all the ground spices (cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves, nutmeg, black pepper, and optional star anise and chili flakes).
- Stir well until all the spices are evenly distributed. Make sure there are no clumps.
- Transfer the spiced tea blend to an airtight container. Store in a cool, dark, and dry place to maintain freshness.
- To brew, add 1 teaspoon of the spice blend to a cup of hot water or your favourite tea (such as black tea or rooibos).
- Allow the tea to steep for 3-5 minutes, or until the desired strength is achieved.
- Strain the tea through a tea strainer or infuser to remove any spice particles.
- Serve hot, with milk and sugar (or honey) to taste, if desired.
