Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground chuck (80/20 fat content)
  • 1 lb ground beef (85/15 fat content)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 burger buns (sesame or brioche)
  • Lettuce leaves
  • 1 medium tomato, sliced
  • Sliced pickles (optional)
  • 2 large potatoes (for fries)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Cut potatoes into even strips. Toss with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Spread on a baking sheet.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine ground chuck, ground beef, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce (if using). Divide the mixture into four equal portions. Gently form into patties, making a slight indentation in the centre.
  3. Grill or heat a frying pan over medium-high heat. Cook each patty for 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip. Add cheese on top, cooking for another 3-4 minutes until desired doneness.
  4. Optional: Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a pan during the last few minutes of cooking.
  5. Place lettuce on the bottom half of the bun, add the burger patty, then top with sliced tomato, pickles, and the bun lid.
  6. Bake the fries in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, turning halfway, until golden and crispy.
