Ingredients:

  • 2.5 oz (75 ml) gin (preferably London dry gin)
  • 0.5 oz (15 ml) dry vermouth
  • Ice cubes
  • 1 long strip of lemon peel (1–2 inches in length)

Instructions:

  1. Chill the martini glass in the freezer or fill it with ice water to cool while preparing the drink.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, add ice cubes, gin, and dry vermouth.
  3. Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds (for a stirred method, combine in a mixing glass and stir for 30 seconds).
  4. Discard the ice from the chilled glass.
  5. Strain the mixture into the chilled martini glass.
  6. Twist a strip of lemon peel over the drink to release its essential oils.
  7. Drop the lemon twist into the drink as garnish.
  8. Enjoy immediately!
