Ingredients:
- 2.5 oz (75 ml) gin (preferably London dry gin)
- 0.5 oz (15 ml) dry vermouth
- Ice cubes
- 1 long strip of lemon peel (1–2 inches in length)
Instructions:
- Chill the martini glass in the freezer or fill it with ice water to cool while preparing the drink.
- In a cocktail shaker, add ice cubes, gin, and dry vermouth.
- Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds (for a stirred method, combine in a mixing glass and stir for 30 seconds).
- Discard the ice from the chilled glass.
- Strain the mixture into the chilled martini glass.
- Twist a strip of lemon peel over the drink to release its essential oils.
- Drop the lemon twist into the drink as garnish.
- Enjoy immediately!
