Ingredients:

  • 8 cups freshly fallen snow
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Collect fresh, clean snow in a large bowl from a safe location, away from roads, buildings, and animal activity. The top layer is usually the cleanest.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until the sugar is dissolved.
  3. Gradually add the milk mixture to the snow, mixing gently with a whisk or spoon until the snow is well combined and the mixture reaches a soft, ice cream-like consistency. Work quickly to prevent the snow from melting too much.
  4. If the mixture is too thin, add more snow, a little at a time, until you reach your desired consistency. If it's too thick, add a splash more milk.
  5. For a firmer texture, transfer the snow ice cream to a freezer-safe container and chill for 15-30 minutes before serving (optional).
  6. Scoop and serve snow ice cream immediately. Garnish with sprinkles, chocolate shavings, or fresh berries if desired.
