Ingredients:
- 2 cups (300g) fresh strawberries, hulled and quartered
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (120ml) water
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions:
- In the saucepan, combine strawberries, sugar, and water.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar.
- Reduce heat to low and continue to simmer, stirring occasionally, for about 15-20 minutes, or until the strawberries have softened and the syrup has thickened slightly.
- Remove from heat and stir in the lemon juice. Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth-lined colander into a bowl to separate the strawberry syrup from the solids. Press the solids gently to extract as much syrup as possible.
- Let the syrup cool completely. Then, transfer it to the sterilized jar or bottle. Seal tightly and store in the refrigerator.
